Deto LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Dēto mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when using the App, including:

• First name (displayed to other users)
• Email address (for account authentication)
• Date of birth (for age verification — you must be 18 or older)
• Profile photos and video/audio content you create
• Location data (city, region, and approximate GPS coordinates for the Connector matching feature)
• Gender and matching preferences
• About me text (optional bio)
• Device camera and microphone data (only when you are actively recording or on a call)

Automatically Collected Information

When you use the App, we may automatically collect certain information, including:

• Device information (type, operating system, unique device identifiers)
• Usage data (features used, time spent in app)
• Log data (access times, pages viewed, crashes)
• Presence and activity status in the Connector feature
• Content moderation classifications (automated safety scores assigned to your uploads)

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the App
• Create and manage your account
• Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
• Send you updates and notifications related to the App
• Monitor and analyze usage patterns and trends
• Protect against unauthorized access and ensure security
• Enforce age restrictions (18+ verification during registration)
• Moderate content for safety using automated classification systems
• Match users in the Connector feature based on location proximity and preferences
• Facilitate video calls between connected users
• Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and policy violations

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following situations:

• Service Providers: We share data with third-party vendors who assist in operating the App, including:

• Authentication and database services (Supabase)
• Video hosting and delivery (Bunny CDN)
• Video calling infrastructure (LiveKit)
• Content safety classification (Azure AI Content Safety)
• DNS and security (Cloudflare)
• Payment processing (RevenueCat / Apple / Google — Deto does not see your card details)
• Error tracking (Sentry)

• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

Content Moderation & Data Retention

Automated systems screen uploaded photos and videos for guideline violations before they are made visible to other users. Content flagged by our automated systems may be temporarily retained for review.

If your account has been suspended or permanently banned, moderation records (reports, moderation actions, and appeals) may be retained for safety and legal compliance even after account deletion. These records do not contain personal profile data. For voluntary account deletions, all data — including moderation records — is deleted.

Camera & Microphone

The App requests access to your device camera and microphone for video introductions, voice messages, and video calls. Camera and microphone data is captured only during active recording or live calls.

The App does not access your camera or microphone passively or in the background.

Biometric Data

Deto does not collect, store, or process biometric identifiers such as facial geometry or fingerprints.

Video content may contain your likeness, but biometric features are not extracted or analyzed.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights & Data Deletion

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability.

You can delete your account at any time from the App by going to your Profile tab, scrolling to the bottom, and tapping "Delete Account." You can also request deletion at deto.app/delete-account if you have uninstalled the App.

Account deletion removes your profile, avatar, intro (video or voice), conversations, text messages, shared images, connections, and emoji reactions. Connector messages are already deleted from our servers when dismissed by the recipient.

If your account has been suspended or permanently banned, moderation records may be retained as described in the Content Moderation & Data Retention section above.

Age Requirement

The App is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. Age is verified during account registration; users who cannot verify that they are 18 or older are denied access.

Misrepresentation of age results in immediate account termination and deletion of all associated data.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
